Richard L. Hartmann, J.D., CLU, ChFC is a senior advisor and co-founder of AUCTORIS. Richard believes that private wealth remaining under family control does more to serve the needs, goals, values, and objectives of the family, their community, their charities, and society as a whole than passing 35-45% by default through the tax and government system. While in law school he determined that he wanted to spend his career working with successful people perpetuating success. He has over forty years of experience working with high net worth families, their investment advisors, attorneys, CPA’s, and their family offices.
Richard’s skillfulness of communicating complex planning concepts in a totally understandable manner has made him a valuable resource for families of $25M to over $1B and their advisors. He combines his legal, tax, people and life insurance knowledge with his experience to design and assist in implementing planning strategies that have successfully transferred billions of private wealth inter-generationally. As a charter advisor of The Institute for Preparing Heirs, he works not only with the planning to pass wealth inter-generationally, but with the family to make sure the heirs are prepared for the responsibilities that come with the wealth so the wealth is retained by those future generations.
Richard has spoken throughout the country, Europe, and Australia on topics of interfamily harmonious wealth succession planning. He has addressed audiences on advanced personal wealth succession strategies, philanthropic planning, life insurance design and integrating life insurance into clients total wealth plan. His guest speaking contributions include: American Bar Association (Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section) and American Society of CLU and ChFC, The Washington State Bar Association, The Colorado State Bar Association, The Annual Kansas Tax Conference, The Annual Meeting of the Texas Society of CPA’s, University of Arizona and five years as a guest lecturer at the University of Denver Masters in Tax Program and School of Law.
Richard earned his Juris Doctor at St. Louis University School of Law and earned his BA degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Richard has been awarded the Businessman of the Year Designation from the Congressional Committee’s Business Advisory Council.
